We are in a new world built on social media and that world can affect how we view ourselves, our choices and our lives in general. It’s a world where you can’t have an opinion and you strive to show people all the good things happening in your life. People need that extra comment or like to validate that they are doing something good in their life; and while I’m (not really) trying to bash it or deny the fact that it has benefits; I’m just suggesting, let's be real... if all this went away would you be ok being disconnected socially? Life is hard sometimes. We need to normalize, “It’s ok to not be ok.”

Trends will come and go, you will get older, you will experience heartache and old friends will fade away. In those seasons of your life don’t unpack and stay there. Instead love yourself, your flaws and your seasons. Courage comes from building self-worth regardless of circumstances and it allows you to make choices that will benefit your life, not someone else’s version of your life. Love who you are so you can give love back confidently; with arms wide open.

If your goal in life is to be liked, you have already compromised everything and achieved nothing. The first person that should be ok with you, is you. I know “love yourself” sounds so cliché- it kind of feels nerdy writing it but there's no other way to explain it. It is you being ok with failing, letting go of people or relationships; it’s enjoying the solitude and embracing the seasons of your life. Loving yourself is preparing to be alone and not seeking out others to decide if you’re worthy.

(Don’t get it twisted- I’m not saying love yourself more than others or override the love of God.)

When you love who you are, it sets you free from the past, it sets standards for your life and relationships and it’s enough to feed your mind with confidence and positivity. Don’t let anyone tell you who to be or what they think you should do; your happiness depends on how you feel inside. Through all the seasons always remember it’s ok to feel in that moment and it's ok to not be ok... AND It’s really ok to love yourself anyway! (God loves you too)
