New Year, New Possibilities
Does everyone proclaim a New Year resolution? Is it possible that everyone has achieved their full potential? I’m going to go out on a limb and say no, and no. The reason why I don’t think everyone makes a resolution is because some people are content with where they are in their life, which is fine (sort of); or it could be they have little ambition.
I hope anyone who feels like they have achieved all that life has to offer, or those who lack that ambition will reassess the position they have on this earth. Most of the time humanity fails to recognize the impact that they have on history; they forget that life is more than just breathing. Don’t be afraid to pursue your dreams just because you feel unworthy or fear that you will fail. It doesn’t matter how many times you fail, the journey is worth the risk, every mistake still proves you are trying. Every step along the way paves a path, and every stepping stone whether negative or positive, leads us on our own individual voyage. If we distance
ourselves from life and reality, we forget how to dream and life stands still, not in peace, but rather the lack of desire to live life more abundantly.
Next, it is not possible to have reached full potential in a lifetime. There is always room to grow, to learn, understand, and improve. We’ll never be able to explore the entire world, read every book, or learn every lesson in our lifetime. Some people may have reached a level of success that provides more than enough money and that may seem like enough, but there is always a piece in the puzzle of life that needs discovered. Imagine how boring life would be if we quit having things to look forward to. This quote from The Alchemist makes me personally reevaluate my priorities and dreams, “It's the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting.” When we stop dreaming, we stop achieving.

I’m not saying you have to receive a Ph.D, be a millionaire, or be like every other fitness guru out there to be happy and successful in life. As humans we all start on a different level in life, some more fortunate than others. Therefore, we cannot all be equal in that aspect of reality. The important thing is you never, ever quit at growing. Our success is in the hands of our desires, efforts, and outlook. The world is not just black and white; we should see it in vibrant colors, full of life and opportunity. So, maybe you want to read more books, travel more, be more optimistic, or grow spiritually; we all have room for improvement and that opens up an overwhelming world of possibilities. If you didn’t have a resolution, now is the time to get one! Happy New Year, and make it the best year yet!
